X-Country Skiing and Snowmobiling
Granville boasts about 52 miles of trails that connect to unlimited miles of trails in our area. Middle Granville is the home of the Border Riders Snowmobile Club, who work hard to maintain the trails and good relations with the landowners.
Ice fishing, skating and sleigh riding are a few other favorite activities in the area.
For the Downhill Skiing Enthusiast – Washington County offers Willard Mountain, less than ½ hour from Granville. West Mountain in Glens Falls NY along with Killington and Okemo and Bromley ski areas in VT are within an hour’s drive.

The NY Adirondacks and the Vermont Green Mountains provide the most spectacular scenery in the Northeast and Granville NY is nestled between them. Located on the NY and VT border, in the northeast part of beautiful Washington County, in the Mettawee River Valley, at the end of the Rainbow. The “1878 History of Washington County” mentions that the St. Francis Indians claimed their ancestral rights to hunt, fish and trade in Granville NY. Today Granville, located at the junction of the Mettowee and Indian Rivers, is still a very desirable area. Many hunters and fishermen today agree with the St. Francis Indians of long ago, that the area’s abundance of native Brook Trout, Bass fishing, Deer, Beaver, Black Bear, Rabbit and restored Wild Turkey Flocks deserve traveling long distances to enjoy.

Slate Valley Museum
The Slate Valley Museum first opened in September of 1995; Established in part, to pay tribute to the slate workers, their families and to preserving their way of life, artifacts and information tracing the development of this fascinating industry in the Slate Valley. It presents to the public the historical, cultural, and technical explanation of the slate industry. Located on the Mettowee River across from the Pember Library and Museum. For more Information:

Pember Museum
The Pember Museum, a Victorian gem – The gift of Franklin Pember in the 19th century established a unique Library and Museum. Mr. Pember donated his large collection of natural life specimens to the museum – a collection that includes specimens now extinct and of great value to modern researchers.

The Pember Library located on the first floor of the Pember Museum is one of the most up-to-date and extensive literary collections in the area. The local history area includes genealogical information that visitors often use to search out their Ancestries.

The Pember Nature Preserve is a natural refuge for the region’s wildlife and plant species, located eight miles south of Granville on Route 22 in nearby Hebron, New York. There are over two miles of trails winding through 125 acres of forest, fields and wetlands on both sides of Black Creek, a tributary of the Battenkill.

For the animal enthusiasts, Granville is home to Wing Clydesdale & Horse Farm and Birch Hill Farms.
Many horse lovers live in Granville and enjoy miles of trails through pines, fields, woods and meadows.
There is Canoeing & Picnicking at the Mettowee River in town. Softball and Baseball available at the Little League Field and the Granville High School fields. Our High School also maintains Tennis courts that are available to the Public.
Golfing, Swimming and Camping are just minutes away at Lake St. Catherine as well.
Fruit and Berry picking from early summer through the fall brings visitors from miles around.
Hick’s Orchard starts their season with tart Cherries around July 4th ; other varieties of fruit and berries are available throughout the summer and over 10 varieties of Apples, Apple Cider & Cider Donuts and a Corn Maze in the fall. The Americade Tour Expo is located in Lake George New York, just 35 miles west of Granville. Americade has become the world’s largest multi-brand motorcycle touring rally, drawing nearly 50,000.

Located at the Intersections of Route 149 and Route 22 on the NY and Vermont Border. It is easily accessible to Glens Falls, Lake George, Saratoga Springs and Albany NY and to Rutland, Fair Haven and Manchester VT.

Neal and Josephine Hulett rented a piece of property on what used to be ” the old Jenkins Farm”. With the addition of several buildings and hangers that Hulett and his crew designed and built themselves, the property became the Granville Airport On April 2, 1947, with about 500 feet of runway.
Of All the many businesses and attractions that Granville has to offer, perhaps the most unusual for a community of this size is the Granville Airport. Today the airport boasts 2,500 feet of runway, which gets plowed in the winter, so they can stay open year round, and is the home base of over 30 airplanes. Granville has seen air traffic come and go off its runway for local fliers or those just passing through, for many years.

Located in Glens Falls NY, is just 20 miles to our west and all of the Granville Area skies are dotted with Balloons from around the World, some Balloons land in area fields.
